Chemistry’s Nick Wesener to Serve Two-Year Term on Alere Informatics’ Advisory Board

Kudos to Chemical Pathology’s Nick Wesener, MLS (ASCP)cm, Senior Clinical IT, POC for being selected to serve on the Alere Informatics RALS Advisory Board (RAB). The purpose of the RAB is to facilitate transparent discussion between Alere Informatics and the point-of-care testing community. Topics include issues and trends that may influence the way RALS Point-of-Care Data Management Systems programs are managed. Those selected to serve on this board are considered leaders in the field of point-of-care testing who can provide valuable feedback to Alere Informatics and experience and knowledge to other RALS users.

Mary Skinner of the Lombard Lab Nominated for Proteintech’s Best Lab Manager 2016.

Mary Skinner serves as the lab manager for David Lombard, MD, PhD. In addition to managing the animal colony, maintaining and allocating funding, and performing her own research, she trains new team members, reminding them that as science changes the lab needs to change with it. Kleer lab develops model of human metaplastic breast carcinomas

The laboratory of Dr. Celina Kleer, Harold A. Oberman Collegiate Professor, discovered that mammary-specific knock down of CCN6 results in mammary carcinomas with features of human metaplastic carcinomas. This model may lead to discovery of new diagnostic and therapeutic targets for this rare and aggressive form of triple negative breast cancer. The article appeared in Oncogene, on the November 7th 2016 issue, and can be found at www.nature.com
