Application Instructions

To apply to the program, the application with the information listed below should be sent to Laura Labut electronically (laszczem@med.umich.edu).

 

Application Materials:

Applicants should submit the following items as a single PDF:

  • Cover letter from the student's mentor which indicates why the student is appropriate for this training program (limited to 2 pages). The mentor letter should include a statement ensuring commitment to the training program.
  • A copy of the student's Rackham applications
  • A copy of the student's U of M unofficial graduate transcript
  • A copy of the student's CV
  • A letter from the student including their reasons for interest in this program, outlining in general terms their thesis project (specific aims are not expected) and identifying a potential clinical co-mentor, and a preliminary indication of the target clinical experience (limited to 2 pages)

Eligibility:

Candidates must be pre-doctoral students in their second year of the PIBS program. MSTP students and PhD students supported by another training grant are not eligible for this program. Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Students who are currently in labs of faculty members that are not already part of this training program can apply. To apply the mentor must submit a statement of the training environment in their lab and their NIH biosketch along with the student's application.
