Dr. Charles Parkos, Carl V. Weller Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology, has been inducted into the Association of American Physicians (AAP). Founded in 1885, the AAP is an organization of leading senior physician-scientists who are committed to the pursuit of medical knowledge, the advancement through experimentation and discovery of basic and clinical science, and their application to clinical medicine.

Members are competitively selected for having attained excellence in achieving these goals. Dr. Kathleen Cho, Department of Pathology Vice Chair for Academic Affairs, states, “Parkos has contributed seminal studies defining the molecular basis of leukocyte trafficking across mucosal epithelia and effects on epithelial function. His work has provided key insights into how inflammation impacts mucosal repair and barrier and highlights new roles for integrins, glycans and intercellular junction proteins in adhesion and epithelial signaling.” Please join us in congratulating Dr. Parkos!
