Michele Mitchell (left) and Dr. Jeffrey Myers (right)Congratulations to Dr. Jeffrey Myers, the A. James French Professor of Diagnostic Pathology, Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Quality, and Director of Michigan Medicine Laboratories for his selection to The Power List – 2021 as an In the Spotlight Award winner. Myers was selected by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) for this award due to his role in forming and chairing the first pathology-based Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), which includes patient-family advocates, residents/fellows, and pathologists. In addition, he chairs the ASCP Patient Champion Steering Committee.  In this role, he successfully advocated for adding a Patient Advisor, Michele Mitchell, to the ASCP’s National Pathology Quality Registry Data Accuracy Task Force. Mitchell was also appointed to the ASCP MACRA grant Technical Expert Panel and co-chairs the Department of Pathology PFAC. "None of these opportunities would have been possible without Dr. Myers’ leadership and support,” stated Mitchell, who nominated Myers for this award. “His commitment to patients and families transcends his work at UofM. It was my honor to nominate Dr. Myers for the 2021 ASCP’s Power List In the Spotlight Award. Dr. Myers deserves to be recognized for his outreach and advocacy. I believe we need to reward out-of-the-box thinkers in the field of pathology and laboratory medicine who practice patient and family-centered concepts, especially those who are blazing new trails, like Dr. Myers.”

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jeffrey Myers on this award.
