Dr. Jeffrey Myers Receives Jack Billi Award for Inspiring Quality Improvement

By Camren Clouthier | October 30 2020

Congratulations to Dr. Jeffrey Myers, who was recently awarded the Jack Billi Award for Inspiring Quality Improvement by Michigan Medicine

The award, named after longtime U-M physician Dr. Jack Billi, was established to recognize someone who exhibits a passion for the same quality improvement that Billi inspired. Dr. Myers was selected for his exemplifying behaviors of an effective improvement leader and for using LEAN design principles and tools in his daily work. According to his nomination, "Dr. Myers is a GEMBA guy who loves to 'go see', rather than discuss anything in a conference room."

Myers was also instrumental in implementing quality assurance meetings in pathology, where faculty and staff can showcase their projects or opportunities for improvement. Many of the improvement projects that stemmed from these meetings have been showcased at Quality Month over the years, and led to significant improvements that have had an impact on patient care and improved service delivery for the department’s clinical colleagues.

The Department of Pathology wishes to congratulate Dr. Myers on this terrific accomplishment!
