Happy Valentine's Day: Celebrating UMich Path Couples

By Anastazia Hartman | February 14

Many aspects make our department great, but one aspect makes us unique, our Pathology Couples! To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we sat down with two  of our couples and found out a bit about their love stories.

Jordan Habitz and Justin RogersJordan & Justin

How long have you and your partner been together?

JH & JR: We have been together for 13 years and will be married for 10 years in October.

What do you love about working together?

JH& JR: If I forget something, he brings it for me. When I talk about my job, he knows exactly what I am talking about. I love getting a wave when I walk by his laboratory window. I love hearing about what a wonderful job he is doing.

How long have you and your partner been together?

DH & CH: We were married in July of 1991 and have been together ever since!

Chris worked in Pathology (Peds Hematology and main Hematology) from 1976 to 2016. Dave’s tenure in Pathology (Special Chemistry) from 1984 to April 2024. Together we have spent a total of 80 years working in pathology, however, we didn’t meet at work. We knew each other from other social circles but it was a coincidence that we both worked in U-M Pathology Labs.

What did you love about working together?

DH & CH: It was nice being able to walk down the hall and communicate with your spouse during the work day.  Talk about dinner, child school pickup, and other issues. Chris enjoyed asking Dave for lunch money quite often because he always carried cash in his wallet.
