First Summit
Global Pathology Summit
In collaboration with the University of Michigan's Center for Global Health Equity (CGHE) the department of pathology hosted the first Global Pathology Summit on November 4, 2024.
The summit brought together around 100 experts from around the world to discuss key topics in global health and pathology. The opportunity allowed networking and fostered new partnerships. The success of the event supported the establishment of global pathology centers both national and internationally and resulting in publishing "Scaling Global Pathology Education: Insights from the Global Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (GPALM) Consortium", January 2025.

University of Michigan GPALM Faculty and Staff Visit to the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC)
Taking place at AUBMC, Beirut, Lebanon from January 19–20, 2026.
In collaboration with:
- American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC)
- University of Michigan Global Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (GPALM)
A collaborative academic visit designed to:
- Support AUBMC’s transition to digital pathology.
- Share lessons learned from the University of Michigan’s fully digital pathology workflow.
- Identify opportunities for clinical, educational, and research collaboration.
- Engage faculty, trainees, and institutional leadership.
- Establish a roadmap for sustainable, long-term partnership.
Topics include:
- Digital pathology implementation and workflow transformation
- AI, image analytics, and machine learning in pathology
- Pathology informatics and whole-slide imaging
- Educational innovation in pathology training
- Faculty development and interprofessional education
- Global pathology collaboration and capacity building

Part of 34th NAAMA International Medical Convention and taking place at Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland between July 3-5, 2025; the symposium was in collaboration with the University of Michigan’s Center for Global Health Equity (CGHE)
Collaborative platform designed to:
- Showcase the GPALM Consortium’s ongoing projects and achievements.
- Highlight innovative work across institutions and global partnerships.
- Explore opportunities for future collaboration.
- Build new partnerships and strengthen existing ones.
- Initiate projects that advance pathology and laboratory medicine globally.

Breast, Gynecological & Immuno-Oncology International Cancer Conference (BGICC)
Held in Cairo, Egypt between January 23-24, 2025, the BGICC is one of the largest conferences in North Africa. Twelve University of Michigan Pathology faculty members volunteered to lecturer on topics related to informatics, breast, and gynecologic pathology.
