Description: The Department of Pathology invites applications from faculty with primary appointment in Pathology for proteomics related Pilot Projects that intend to use the state-of-the-art Proteomics Resource Facility (PRF) at the University of Michigan Medical School that is led by Dr. Alexey Nesvizhskii. Funds are primarily meant to help offset the cost of proteomic experiments, the results of which could potentially form the basis for or strengthen an extramural grant application. The grant is a cost share (2/3 funded by Department of Pathology and 1/3 by the investigator).
More information about the PRF can be found at: https://www.pathology.med.umich.edu/proteomics-resource-facility
Who Can Apply: Department of Pathology Faculty
Format: The application (which is designed to be as simple as possible) is not to exceed 1.5-2 pages with up to two illustrations/figures allowed if needed (Arial font 11) with the following sections:
How to Apply: Proposals are submitted by email to Venkatesha Basrur at: vbasrur@med.umich.edu Please include "Pathology Pilot Project Program" in the subject line.
Budget: Projects will be awarded for $3,000 to $6,000; the maximum request is for $6,000. The Department of Pathology will provide up to two thirds ($2,000 - $4,000) of the project budget and a one third ($1,000 - $2,000) contribution is required by the PI. Exceptions to this 2:1 co-funding model may be possible for early stage investigators who do not have any significant sources of external funding. All the funds should be used to directly offset the cost of proteomic experiments. Please check the Proteomics Facility website for cost information or contact the facility research scientist, Dr. Venkatesha (Venky) Basrur (vbasrur@med.umich.edu; tel 615-5722) with questions regarding experiment design or cost.
Review process: Pilot applications will be reviewed by a select interdepartmental committee, and a final funding decision will be made by the Center's Executive Committee.
