Plenary Lecturers

 

Jennifer Hunt, M.D., MEd

Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Aubrey J. Hough Endowed Professor of Pathology
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences


The Chair of Pathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she holds the endowed Aubrey J. Hough Endowed Professorship. Dr. Hunt was an undergraduate at Bryn Mawr College and then pursued her Masters of Education and medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She has held prior academic appointments at the University of Pittsburgh, the Cleveland Clinic, and Harvard Medical School. She has served on numerous committees with the College of American Pathologists, including the Curriculum Committee, Council on Membership and Professional Development, and the Publications committee, and has been an active member of the United States and Canadian Association for Pathology, including past service on the Education Committee and as an elected member of the Board. She was elected into several leadership positions in the Association for Molecular Pathology, including most recently as the President of the organization in 2013. In 2014, Dr. Hunt was elected as a member of the Board of Governors of the College of American Pathologists and is currently serving in her first term. She has received awards for leadership, scientific contributions, and teaching, including the Lansky Award, the Arthur Purdy Stout Award, and the CAP Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Hunt has authored over 150 publications in Endocrine, Head & Neck, and Molecular Pathology and Quality Assurance. Her research has focused on the study of tumor-associated genetic alterations and mutations in neoplasia, with a strong emphasis on translational applications to improve and expand molecular diagnostic testing for understanding tumor pathogenesis, prognosis, and improved diagnostics.
 
 

Laura Webb Lamps, M.D.

Professor of Pathology
Vice-Chair for Academic Affairs - Department of Pathology
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences


She attended Davidson College, followed by pathology residency and fellowship training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Dr. Lamps joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas in 1998. She is the author of the textbook Surgical Pathology of the Gastrointestinal System: Bacterial, Fungal, Viral, and Parasitic Infections; editor of the Diagnostic Pathology: Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary book in the highly acclaimed Amirsys series; and has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the areas of GI and liver pathology and infectious disease pathology. She enjoys teaching at all levels, and also serves as the chair of the Education Committee for the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Jeffrey L. Myers, M.D.

A. James French Professor and Director, Anatomic Pathology

Dr. Myers joined the faculty of the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan in January 2006 as the A. James French Professor of Diagnostic Pathology and Director, Division of Anatomic Pathology. In 2011 he was also appointed Director of MLabs. He serves as an Associate Director of the University of Michigan Medical Innovation Center.

Also, he has served as an invited speaker nationally and internationally on over 300 occasions and has over 200 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, abstracts, and book chapters. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Mayo Distinguished Clinician Award, the F.K. Mostofi Distinguished Service and President's Awards from the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and the Outstanding Clinician Award from the University of Michigan Medical School. He is a member of a number of professional societies including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, Arthur Purdy Stout Society, the American Thoracic Society, and the Michigan Society of Pathologists.
 

Joel K Greenson, M.D.

Professor of Pathology and the University of Michigan Health System

An alumni of the University of Michigan Medical School, with residency and fellowship training at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His clinical and research interests are in gastrointestinal and liver pathology, infections and neoplasms of the liver and GI tract, inflammatory bowel disease and AIDS in the GI tract. He is past-President of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.
